Remote working !

Remote working has changed our habits and routines.

Today, there are more and more remote positions. But remote working often means remote recruitment.
Once the interview phase is over, how can you successfully integrate a new employee in your remote company?

To help you welcome your new employee in the best way, we have identified 5 important tips that we will share with you each week.

And to end this week, here is our first TIP! 😊

💥 Properly prepare the arrival of the new employee 💥

This step is critical. It allows a good integration and helps to put the new employee at ease. And let's face it, this is even more important when you work remotely.

It is often forgotten, but announcing the arrival of a new employee to all members of the company is a very important step. Whether it is by e-mail, video call or in a newsletter, this step should not be neglected.

It is also a good idea to send an e-mail to the new recruit beforehand, listing the various tasks that they will have to carry out, or to formally explain to them how a typical day/week goes: this will help them feel confident. They will be able to prepare themselves mentally and thus project themselves. Introduce the internal tools, offer them training or feedback from the very first days.

Don't forget: you can offer various contacts who will act as "mentors" for your new employees so that they can be guided through the process whenever they want.

Can we combine machine translation with a human proofreading?

Translation plays an important role in today's world. Whether it is for personal or professional reasons, every individual will have to translate something in the course of their life.

In the business world, when a company wants to expand internationally, it must communicate in several languages to be understood by everyone. It is important to remember that someone who is external to the company will appreciate reading a press release in their own language.

And let's face it, poor communication and misunderstood or misinterpreted content, can have an impact on the reputation of a company.

So why not try machine translation ?

We know that machine translation is a quick and cheap solution: you don't have to call on a translation agency and wait for your project to be processed.

This method allows easy communication between people of different nationalities. But when we think of machine translation, we think of online translation websites.
We have all seen mistakes when using these sites, including mistakes related to misinterpretation and misunderstanding of the context.

Despite the new integrated "Neural Machine Translation" concept, there are still 55% to 85%
translation errors (data from 2019).

So why not combine machine translation with human proofreading ?

Human translation or machine translation?

Years ago, many members of the translation community thought and were (almost) convinced that machine translation was a prank.

Today, they realize that the quantity of contents to be translated is constantly increasing. The demand for "publishable" translations can exceed human capacity.

Many people in the community of human translation believe that machine translation is not "good enough" to meet today's challenges and that it contains more and more errors. Some fields, such as literature or poetic works, are still struggling to find their place in all of this.

However, machine translation has made a leap forward in recent years, particularly for technical fields.

Several years ago, futurist Ray Kurz Weil predicted that machine translation will reach the quality levels of human translation by 2029.

In your opinion, can human translation disappear for good in the coming years, in favor of machine translation?

“A healthy company takes the corporate social responsibility into account.”

CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) represents the awareness of sustainable development of a company in its activities. It consists of integrating environmental and social concerns into the management strategy and operational activities of the company. CSR also means including these famous concerns with stakeholders (customers, suppliers, etc.).

As all my employees work remotely, I wondered if remote working could be integrated into a CSR strategy?

YES, remote working can be part of a corporate social responsibility approach.

Why?

💥 It offers a source of well-being thanks to the autonomy provided to employees

💥 It reduces certain psychosocial risks such as fatigue and stress

💥 It allows you to better balance your professional and personal life

💥 It decreases the ecological impact, as employees don’t have to commute anymore

Of course, there are risks associated with remote working that CSR must address. This approach must also promote the opportunities of this operating mode.

We must not forget that when a member of a company encounters a difficulty, regardless of its nature, we must COMMUNICATE. There will always be solutions to solve these problems, but to do so, you have to dare.

Software development for professional translations

At Keytrad, Panda, our project management tool, has been in place for 1-1/2 years now.

With Panda, you no longer need to juggle emails and Excel spreadsheets. All the data necessary for project management is centralized to allow you to gain in efficiency.

In just a few clicks, the project manager assigns a project to one or more translators/proofreaders and determines the role of each one. As a result, a different interface is applied depending on these roles.   

You will find an interface for the project manager, one for the translator and one for managing/accounting.

Thanks to Panda, the project manager can download and publish files for translators/proofreaders. There is also a private note area (client log, etc.).

You can also benefit from a chat that is directly linked to the people involved in the project. This will facilitate all your communications :)
