Human translation or machine translation?

Years ago, many members of the translation community thought and were (almost) convinced that machine translation was a prank.

Today, they realize that the quantity of contents to be translated is constantly increasing. The demand for "publishable" translations can exceed human capacity.

Many people in the community of human translation believe that machine translation is not "good enough" to meet today's challenges and that it contains more and more errors. Some fields, such as literature or poetic works, are still struggling to find their place in all of this.

However, machine translation has made a leap forward in recent years, particularly for technical fields.

Several years ago, futurist Ray Kurz Weil predicted that machine translation will reach the quality levels of human translation by 2029.

In your opinion, can human translation disappear for good in the coming years, in favor of machine translation?
